Vintage Pendelfin figurine "Barrow Boy".
The expression on this little fellow is one of surprise? or has he been caught skipping out when he is supposed to be helping with the work? He holds an apple in his hand and reclines in a barrow full of the harvests of late summer/fall. The detail is wonderful.
Pendelfin was a pottery company specializing in handcrafted and handpainted stonecraft and was based in Burnley, Lancashire, England. It got the name from a famous hill near Burnley called Pendle Hill which is famous for tales of witches and ghouls. The figurines had an "elfin" appearance so the name "Pendelfin" was born.
Measures approximately 4 1/2 inches across by 3 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches deep.
Condition is Fair. I don't see any chips or cracks but there is a fair bit of paint missing/rubbed off - mainly at the back of the figurine. This was very common with Pendelfin figurines. I have taken lots of pictures so you can see the extent of the paint loss (which looks larger in the close-ups than in real life). He still looks very good if displayed showing his front. He sports his original sticker. Someone skilled with paint touch-up could restore him nicely. He is priced accordingly to reflect condition.
