Absolutely lovely! Vintage Signed Sherman Aurora Borealis Brooch.
This is a fantastically beautiful vintage brooch made and signed by Sherman Costume Jewellery, probably in the late 1950s to early 1960s. Beautiful oval design - Aurora Borealis Rhinestones.
"Sherman" in written in script on the back. Pin clasp.
A little history on Sherman Costume Jewellery:
"After immigrating to Canada, Gustave Sherman took a job as a jewelry salesman, which sparked his interest in the trade. In 1947, he founded his Montreal manufacturing company, Sherman Costume Jewelry. He started with one employee, Dmytro Kurica, who was an expert craftsman and helped to make Sherman’s exquisite designs a reality. By the 1950s, Sherman had established himself as Canada’s foremost costume jeweler, and his work was starting to appear on runways in Paris and New York. Sherman, whose slogan was “made to last a lifetime,” demanded the highest level of quality in workmanship and material. His pieces always featured Swarovski’s top-of-the-line stones, often with shimmering aurora borealis coating, which he then put into sturdy japanned, rhodium and gold-plated prong settings. His less elaborate and more affordable items sold at Canadian department stores and through Henry Birks & Sons. The finest pieces of Sherman jewelry, however, sold at exclusive jewelry boutiques across the country."

Measures approximately 2 inches by 2 inches "round".
In very good condition. All stones are present and clasp is working. I see nothing other than the usual wear evident in vintage costume jewellery of this age; ie a bit of rubbing to the gold-plate and the usual nicks and scratches to the aurora borealis coating. Not noticeable when worn; only upon very close examination of the piece and mentioned only to be accurate.

Bonus! Unless otherwise stated, each piece of my vintage / pre-loved jewellery comes with a little cardboard storage box, hand decorated by my daughter. Examples are pictured above but design received may not be as featured - selected at random.
