This lovely round trinket dish has a delicate floral pattern of petite lilac coloured flowers and ivy-like leaves with gold gilding around the edge.
I have been unable to discover the pattern name or number but based on the maker's stamp on the back it is from the Bawo & Dotter Company of New York which established a manufacturing facility in Limoges, France called Elite Works. They began producing porcelain in 1892. Based on this particular double stamp, in both green and red, I date it to approximately 1920. I am an amateur collector and no expert, however I do enjoy researching my items as best I can to find out the approximate date of manufacture and any other interesting details about the item.
General Limoges Information
Limoges is a region in France and apparently there were up to 48 factories that produced Limoges porcelain. Their products were of varying quality and value. I have also discovered that any Limoges item marked "France" is post 1891, since that is when they were required to stamp the place of origin on an item intended for export.
Measures approximately 5 1/2 inches round.
It is in wonderful condition - no chips or cracks. The gold edge is slightly worn and there is a teeny-tiny black mark on the front, which may have occurred during the manufacturing process. It is in really wonderful condition considering its age.
