This an absolutely magical fairy tale collector plate! The imagery is wonderful - I love the Bogatyrs arriving on their flying horses ... and the Crone with her crystal ball.
From my amateur research I have discovered that this was a collector plate issued by the Bradford Exchange in 1988. It is the second, #2 in a series of 12 plates entitled "Russian Legends". This series was produced in agreement with the Russian company "Tianex". There were only 195 firing days for this series which was produced at the historic Vinogradoff Porcelain factory in Russia. This fantastic porcelain plate (#2) depicts "The Princess and the Seven Bogatyrs" and is by Aleksandr Kovalev. The plates were produced with 16-17 layers of ceramic pigments and in 18kt gold on hard fired porcelain. They are patterned after the designs and style found on Russian lacquer boxes from the village of Palekh.
The back is written almost entirely in Russian, so I am unable to translate it. In English reads: "Tianex, 1988 - 2408M - Bradex No. 60-V25-1.2. Art object, not for food use. Precious metal pigments may be toxic." The rest is in Russian.
Measures approximately 7 3/4 inches round. It has hanging holes and wire on the back.
Excellent Condition. No chips or cracks and the graphic is clear.

Important Note: Not for food use! Decorator use only.
