Antique Side Plate by Myott Son & Co. - Rosemary Pattern.
This unique and beautiful antique side plate has an off-white base with cobalt blue and gilded trim, together with an elegant pattern of orange and yellow flowers and scroll work design. Made by Myott Son & Co in England in the 1930s - it is the "Rosemary" pattern. Interestingly, there seem to have been a couple of slight variations of this pattern, so be careful if you are trying to match a missing piece in your set! This is the square, scalloped version; there appears to have been a later round version as well. Please contact me for any questions - always happy to discuss beautiful antiques!
Side plate could be used for toast, bread roll, a small salad or cookie plate.
Note: Hand wash only and not microwave safe (some hand painted accents/gold gilding). This item was made prior to dishwashers and microwaves.
Measures 6 and 1/2 inches round/square.
Good Condition.
There is a little bit of wear to the gold trim around the edge of the plate. A bit of blue paint from the manufacturing process on the white (see photo). The usual spots and bumps in the glaze that are consistent with manufacturing methods at the time.
