I always loved Avon as a little girl. The creme perfume brooches, the rose bud shaped soaps and of course the lipsticks! Avon made such nice quality collectibles in years past. They were, at the time, seen as inexpensive alternatives to Wedgwood, Delft Blue, Milk and Depression Glass and jewellery featuring cameos and pearls; for those who couldn't afford the real McCoy. But compared to today's items, the fantastic quality of Vintage Avon astounds. Many items were also designed to serve dual usages - such as a cut glass jar containing face cream that could later hold rings and things and look pretty on the vanity table. Or a bottle of bath oil pretty enough to be reused as a bud vase. Ironically, a sound environmental concept that needs revisiting today!
